My Recommended Smart Home Products: Zigbee Edition (Part 2)

Continuing from my previous post on recommended Zigbee devices, here’s Part 2 of my list of top zigbee devices that work with Home Assistant. As always, these devices work seamlessly with Zigbee Home Automation (ZHA) in Home Assistant, ensuring a smooth and integrated smart home experience. Let’s dive into some more essential Zigbee gadgets that have proven to be reliable and effective in my setup.

Requirements

Although you’re more than welcome to just read this post for general knowledge, check out my recommendations for what you need to have, in order to be able to fully use the provided information.

Zigbee Leak Sensor

I have about five of these leak sensors strategically placed around my house: under the sink, near doors that lead to the garden, and other areas prone to leaks. This sensor has been a lifesaver, providing timely alerts to prevent potential water damage.

  • Power Source: 2 AAA batteries, which I prefer for their long life.
  • Battery Life: Very long-lasting; I've had some of these for over a year, and they are still going strong.
  • Integration: Seamless connection with ZHA and Home Assistant.

Zigbee Thermometer (Fridge Thermometer)

I use these thermometers in my fridge to ensure the temperature stays within a safe range. They are highly accurate and offer the peace of mind of knowing that my food is stored at the right temperature.

  • Power Source: 2 AAA batteries.
  • Battery Life: Long-lasting.
  • Bonus Feature: Comes with a screen to display the temperature, so you don't always need to check the Home Assistant dashboard or rely on automations.

Zigbee Button

This is the only product in my recommendations that doesn't use AA or AAA batteries. It's a versatile button that can trigger various automations in Home Assistant. I have several of these around the house, and they are incredibly handy.

  • Power Source: CR2032 battery, which is commonly available.
  • Battery Life: Surprisingly long; I've had some of these for over a year, and the battery is still going strong.
  • Uses: I use mine to trigger automations like opening the front gate when guests ring the bell.
  • Design: It looks nice and comes with an adhesive backing, so you can stick it to a wall or other surfaces.

These Zigbee devices have become indispensable in my smart home setup. They provide reliable performance and integrate perfectly with ZHA and Home Assistant. Whether you're looking to enhance your home's safety with leak sensors, monitor your fridge's temperature, or trigger automations with a simple button press, these devices have you covered.
