Unraid is a powerful OS that provides an easy way to manage your home server. With the wide array of apps available, you can transform your Unraid server into a productivity powerhouse. Here are my personal top Unraid apps for productivity and management:
Paperless-ngx
One of the best document management systems out there. It helps me digitize and organize all my documents efficiently. To run it smoothly, you’ll also need to install the Redis App, which Paperless-ngx depends on for caching.
AdGuard Home
AdGuard Home acts as a powerful network-wide ad blocker. It filters out ads and trackers, significantly improving my browsing experience and privacy across all devices connected to my network (Plus, it has a very powerful content protection for children).
Double-Take + Frigate + CompreFace
This combination of apps offers a robust home security solution. Double-Take handles motion detection, Frigate provides NVR capabilities with real-time object detection, and CompreFace adds facial recognition. Together, they give me peace of mind with comprehensive surveillance features.
OrganizrV2
OrganizrV2 is a web-based application that helps me keep all my services and applications organized in one place. It’s like a dashboard for everything running on my server, making it easy to access and manage.
Duplicati
Duplicati is an excellent backup solution. It allows me to schedule backups of my important data to various cloud storage providers, ensuring that I always have a copy of my data safe and secure. I’m using Google Drive as a destination for my backups.
Cloudflare-DDNS
With Cloudflare-DDNS, I can update my Cloudflare DNS records automatically. This is especially useful since I don’t have a static IP address from my ISP, allowing me to keep my domain pointing to my home server without manual intervention.
Uptime Kuma
Uptime Kuma is a self-hosted monitoring tool that keeps track of my services’ uptime. It’s simple to set up and helps me ensure that all my important applications are running smoothly. Once a service is down, I immediately get an alert, which is very useful.
Stay tuned for my next blog post where I’ll delve into the best media apps available for Unraid.
