Over the years, I’ve explored numerous apps (or “dockers”) for Unraid, and I’ve written extensively about them. Previously, I detailed one solution to run a Minecraft server on Unraid. However, that setup came with several limitations:
- No WebUI for easily configuring settings
- Only supported Vanilla Minecraft Java Edition
- No options for mods and other game enhancements
Perhaps late to the show, I've recently discovered the new generation of Minecraft servers on Unraid: Crafty Controller 4. Available through the Unraid Community Apps section, this solution offers a full-featured WebUI for a hassle-free setup and management experience.
After installing, you won’t need to change much. I only had to modify the WebUI ports since the defaults were already taken on my machine. The process is very intuitive and visually guided.
Easy Setup Using the WebUI
Once the installation is complete, managing your server is simple:
- Launch the WebUI and click on Create New Server.
- Select the desired Minecraft variant: Vanilla, Forge, Fabric, or any other option.
- Decide how much memory to allocate and adjust other parameters as needed.
One of the best features is that the Minecraft world files are stored in your appdata as a subfolder. This makes it straightforward to create a mods subfolder where you can drop your mods, just like you would in a local installation.
Important Note: If you choose any variant, such as forge or fabric variant with mods, ensure that all computers connecting to the server use the same game variant, version, and identical mods. It won't work otherwise.
